CALL FOR APPLICATIONS: DIGITAL ARTS EXHIBITION

The Google Arts & Culture Open Call is an opportunity for emerging African artists and creatives to share their work with a global audience and be part of a bold celebration of African creativity. Selected participants will take part in a curated creative journey, developing and presenting original work for a digital exhibition on Google Arts & Culture, with the exhibition also coming to life through an immersive exhibition showcase in February 2027.

Through this programme, selected creatives will be supported to develop a body of work around the exhibition theme, while gaining experience in concept development, creative production, curation, storytelling and presenting their work to wider audiences. Participants will engage in a structured professional process that includes mentorship, feedback and iteration, culminating in work that forms part of a collective digital exhibition celebrating contemporary African perspectives.

About AL for Arts

The Creative Arts sector and the talent in Africa is enormous and is significant to the economic development of many countries in Africa. The network encompasses the entirety of the creative economy, a term that encompasses the core individual artistic disciplines of visual arts, design, writing, theatre and performance, music as well as their related sub-industries, e.g. advertising, publishing and distribution, in addition to arts and culture management and policy making. This is to enable a holistic and thriving creative economy development approach with avenues that showcase Africa’s rich heritage and culture. Additionally, the network aims to develop data and document stories of how art can be a force for development in Africa, through its envisioned shared success.

What is required to be successful

  • Must be an African national;
  • Must be a student.graduate of the African Leadership Academy (ALA) or a student/graduate of the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program;
  • Must at least be a university student
  • Must demonstrate passion for arts
