Highlights from the AfriLabs Annual Gathering and AL for Health Week in Kenya

A standout moment came when Emmanuel Samwel, founder of Primetel Health, delivered a pitch that impressed both the audience and investors. His idea earned first place and received immediate seed funding, a moment that inspired many in the room. His story became a symbol of what’s possible when young African innovators are given the right platform and support.

Day 3: Learning through experience

Day three took participants out of the conference halls and into Kenya’s thriving innovation ecosystem. Delegates visited AfriLabs partner hubs including Villgro Africa, Qubit Hub, and Aga Khan University. These visits offered a closer look at groundbreaking work happening across healthcare incubation, artificial intelligence, and 3D printing for medical use.

From affordable diagnostic tools to locally developed medical devices, the day revealed just how far African-led innovation has come—and how much potential remains to transform healthcare on the continent.

Day 4: Collaboration and community

The final day brought everyone together for the AL for Health Gathering. It was a chance for participants and partners to reflect, share experiences, and explore opportunities for collaboration.
