The scope within the infrastructure ecosystem is broad and has thus been divided into nine infrastructure thematic areas where we have the most focus. These subsectors include Energy and Power, Production and Manufacturing, Water and Sanitation, Construction and Town Planning, Engineering Design and Advisory, Telecommunication and Digital Technology, Transport, Entrepreneurship and Business, and Climate Action.  

Our CoPs have been rolled out gradually since 2023, with the aim of rolling out 3 CoPs every year until 2026. Each CoP is led by one of the members of the community with a keen interest in the area for a period of two years.

The Design and Innovation Challenge (DIC) is a partnership between AL for Infrastructure and partner organizations involving the placement of AL for Infrastructure members at the partner organization to help the later fulfil certain innovation gaps within its business. In achieving our mandate, AL for Infrastructure creates opportunities for learning and shared experiences for its network members to enhance the capacity of these young leaders to solve real infrastructure development challenges. The Design and Innovation Challenge is one of the unique ways we use to improve the capacity of our community members to solve real and critical workplace problems beyond the usual internship and job placement experiences we also offer.

AL for Infrastructure is partnering with technology sector partners to hold hackathons. Our hackathons are events where engineers, programmers, designers, marketers, and animators work collaboratively over the course of 8 – 12 weeks to create or innovate new technologies. Our network is made up of many creators who wish to sharpen their skills to discover new opportunities, whilst also solving existing challenges in the infrastructure ecosystem. Our hackathons are project based or organized around a central theme or challenge, with our young leaders working in teams of 2 – 5 depending on the magnitude of the problem to be solved.
