Meet the Team
Jomo Erick
Program Manager
Jomo is a trained Biomechanical engineer with interests in innovation, technology, sustainable agriculture, climate change, infrastructure and management. Prior to joining ALA, Jomo worked as a cofounder of SSENTE, an early-stage Fintech Startup in Nairobi positioned to serve the unbanked and underserved in the global financial ecosystem. He also worked with over 100 farmers in rural communities in Kenya to improve the food security situation in those regions through a partnership with the European Union and the Kenya Climate Innovation Center. Among other roles, Jomo began his professional career in 2010 as a Pre-University Scholar at Equity Group Foundation where he also worked with peers and young leaders. He is a registered engineer with the Engineers Board of Kenya. Jomo holds a BSc. Biomechanical Engineering from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology and MSc. Public Management from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China.

Bolaji Akinboro
Co-Founder, Cellulant Corporation
With over 25 years of professional experience, Bolaji is one of the most decorated African pioneer technology entrepreneurs. Cofounder and ex co-CEO of Cellulant Corporation, he built the company to become one of the top 5 payments ecosystems in Africa until he left in 2020. He is now building Toronet and Voriancorelli and is offering multiple paid internships to our ALA community. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from Obafemi Awolowo University and Executive Education Certification from Harvard Business School.

Ratan is a results-driven Business Development and Operations leader with extensive experience in the technology industry across Services, Cloud, IoT, Security, and SaaS. He has technical depth, analytical approach, out-of-box problem solving, and innovative business frameworks to incubate new businesses as well as develop and execute large-scale global programs for transformative results. He is a recognized thought leader in technology services industry with a Master’s degree in Structural Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology and a MBA from The Wharton School.
Ryan Phillips-Page
Founder and CEO, Operation Water
Ryan is the founder and CEO of Operation Water, and Co-Founder and Board Member of Terra Firma, a registered Canadian charity which has partnered with Operation Water to develop water infrastructure projects in developing countries. He is also a Board Member of Even Ground, a non-profit that funds community-based programs serving disadvantaged youth in South Africa, and an Advisor to Latin American Leadership Academy, which promotes sustainable economic development and strengthens democratic governance by developing and connecting a new generation of principled and socially innovative leaders.
Victor Utedzi
Director, African Transmission Corporation
Victor has worked on various power projects with installed capacity in excess of 6000MW, independent transmission projects of over 3000km in Africa. He has vast experience in hydro and thermal power projects and was part of the team that established the first Pan African infrastructure fund dedicated to energy and energy related projects. He has helped in raising senior debt, mezzanine, ECA backed funding and equity for major African infrastructure. He has a Bachelor of Science degree the London School of Economics and Political Science.
Paul Nguegan

Paul is an experienced engineer and business executive with over 16 years of professional experience in the motor-technology industry. Alastair is an experienced engineering consultant, project engineer and business director with extensive experience in transportation, construction and engineering advisory fields spanning over 20 years in Sub-Saharan Africa. He has a Bachelor of Engineering – Civil Engineering Degree from the University of Manchester.
